Whether short-haired or long-haired, the Chihuahua is a dog that has long been in fashion. Loved by stars from all over the world, it is one of the most “popular ” animals that exist. A formidable pet despite his reputation as tinea, the Chihuahua is still a great pet to love today.
1. The smallest dog in the world
Originally from Mexico, the Chihuahua is a very old breed known to have been the favorite dog of the Aztec nobility. Its name comes from the state of Chihuahua where it would have lived exclusively before being exported to Europe and the United States in the 19th century.
Considered the smallest dog in the world, it weighs between 1 and 3 kg and measures between 16 and 21 cm. It can be carried in a bag and accompany its owner everywhere!
2. An Iron Health
Contrary to what one might think, the Chihuahua is a very strong little dog. It is not particularly fragile and can live up to twenty years. Its only weaknesses are that it can be a little chilly and that its eyes need to be cleaned regularly to avoid eye irritations.
On the other hand, accidents due to his small size are not uncommon. Handling adults who treat it like a plush can also cause terrible damage. This dog requires constant attention.
3. A very active dog
It is well known that the smaller the dog, the more energetic it is. Chihuahua is no exception to this rule. He has the energy to spare and he’s letting it be known!
The Chihuahua is a dog that must live indoors but needs to exercise daily. The outputs are therefore for him a breath of fresh air that allows him to channel his excess energy. It is also an excellent playmate!
4. A brave spirit
The Chihuahua has a fiery temperament. Very affectionate, he can also be suspicious of strangers and quickly be aggressive. This little dog thinks he is a Rottweiler and does not hesitate to bark with all his strength to make the intruders fled. He thus perfectly plays his role as an “alarm dog” when necessary.
Particularly courageous, the Chihuahua does not allow itself to be disassembled in front of dogs much bigger than him. This characteristic also makes it very feisty. If he feels offended, he will not hesitate for a second to make contact. A real cowboy!
5. A dog with a stubborn fur
Despite its joyful and affectionate character, Chihuahua remains stubborn and even stubborn. The training of this terrible dog will have to be firm, but positive. The owner must impose rules of life on him and train him from an early age, throughout his life so that he does not become a “tyrant”.
And above all, don’t doubt his incredible intelligence… This little being could make you see all kinds of things!
